Ojai Mountain Ridge

HIGH ABOVE THE VALLEY

Where Nature Sets the Standard

Ojai Mountain sits at 2,800 feet above sea level—one of the highest-elevation vineyards in California. Up here, vines struggle, berries stay small, and flavors concentrate. The result: wines with freshness, depth, and structure that valley fruit can’t match.

Fewer vineyards reach this height. Fewer still farm organically.

Our Vision & Land

Farming with Intention

Before there were vines, this was raw mountain—chaparral, rock, and wind. That energy is still here, shaped into a living farm system. We follow regenerative methods: no chemicals, no shortcuts. Just compost, wildflower borders, pollinators, birds of prey, and careful pruning. As part of the Slow Wine Movement, we see farming as long-term stewardship. Flavor begins in the soil. So does integrity.

Winemaking Philosophy

Erich Bradley brings decades of experience and a sharp instinct for high-altitude vineyards. His style is focused and unforced: fermentations begin with native yeast, lots are kept small, and each wine is built from what the vineyard gives—no added sugars, no engineered flavors. Minimal sulfites are used only to stabilize and protect. What emerges is not manipulated, but guided—structured wines with energy, tension, and a clear sense of place.

The Setting

Ojai Mountain sits just under 3,000 feet, ten miles from the Pacific. Days are long, nights drop fast, and every shift in light or temperature leaves its mark on the fruit. The soil is fractured shale and sandstone—porous, mineral-rich, and unforgiving. Vines planted here grow slow and low, with small yields and thick-skinned berries. No valley floor can replicate this.

The Wines

We focus on Rhône varietals and Tempranillo, each shaped by altitude, wind, and restraint. These are not plush or overripe wines. They’re compact, finely structured, with firm acidity and aromatic lift. The Syrah is dark and savory; the Estate Red blend carries spice, fruit, and grip in equal measure. Whites like Grenache Blanc and Picpoul are coiled and mineral—more tension than fruit. Every bottle is built to age, but precise enough to drink now.

Visiting the Vineyard

Tastings are by appointment, held outdoors with wide mountain views in every direction. Walk the vineyard. See the wildlife corridors. Understand why pruning here starts with architecture, not yield. Jeep tours, library tastings, and seasonal events are available for guests who want to go deeper. This isn’t wine country tourism—it’s a working mountain vineyard that happens to open its gates.
